Why is the new CELINE make us angry?

The hot style manufacturing machine Celine announced the designer change from Phoebe Philo to Hedi Slimane. Well, the original creative director of YSL, who was good at Diablo punk design.WechatIMG146.jpeg

A decade ago, Phoebe Philo returned to the fashion world, contributing to the first season of Celine. The collection, featuring camel and black, is exquisite, light, fabrics and tailoring. It no longer has the romantic and unrestrained feeling of Chloe designed by Philo. It is more mature and sophisticated. After that, Celine has its own iconic image, and all of the Celine girls’ representative characters are independent and beautiful. In the fashion world, modern and independent have always been popular words, and many designers have also used a lot of different ideas, fabrics, inspirations, and silhouettes to create truly independent women. Phoebe Philo makes these two words real for each Celine girl.

When you think of Celine, closing your eyes is one of those iconic pieces: wide-leg pants, big bags, white shirts, trench coats, suit jackets You can almost count its iconic silhouette, detail, and color scheme, and that’s the history of Celine. Phoebe has long described her style as “Powerful and Strong — a kind of contemporary minimalism.”It’s too strong to look away. You’re used to the brand ads that Juergen Teller shot, the relaxed but never dull women that even dominated the photo shoots of fashion magazines. That’s the history of Celine. The marble floor with oblique stripes and collages is Celine, the brown ceramic sculpture flowerpot with the big lyre leaf ficus is Celine, the golden floor lamp with the rock base is Celine, and the pressing plate jewelry display case with white paint is Celine, these are the histories of Celine. Some would say that Celine’s history has lasted too long and is always the same. But what really makes sense is the depth of the brand created behind the designer, a woman’s independent image representing the brand

Hedi Slimane did make himself, and he showed all of his unique and iconic sides. But it seems to me that this is not the Celine we are familiar with, It looks like a new brand that we didn’t know before. As Slimane made clear in a pre-show visit to Figaro, he did, once again, become himself. Short to no shorter, tight to no longer tight leather jacket, flash to no longer flashing one-piece skirt. He presents a 180-degree image of a rock ‘n’ roll youth of the ’90s that he always used. They look decadent, thin, unsure of themselves, dramatic in their lives, their minds constantly swinging between hyperactivity and extreme fragmentation, and they make others think they “look cool.”

At the end, I want to say the wrong is not the designer itself, as a designer to do themselves is a very correct thing. The wrong man to hire him.
